Hotel Arena Corralejo Review
62
I just got back from a recent week-long vacation from the island of Fuerteventura which is part of the Canary Islands. Specifically, I spent my time in Hotel Arena located in the town of Corralejo and had myself an amazing time. While there, I learned that the town was once a quiet little fishing village. The recent boom in tourism however, has transformed it into a thriving resort. Fortunately, despite its current state, it didn’t lose its natural small town charm. The beaches are well maintained and are still unspoiled by the tourists that regularly visit the island. One advantage of the recent modernization though, are the excellent restaurants and bars that have sprung up everywhere. I truly had an amazing time sampling all the dishes served, and enjoying my nice cool drink while bathing under the glorious sun. I also found out that the island had so many activities to offer. I practically tried all of them wanting to maximize my time and experience there. Other than sampling the inviting and beautiful beaches, I engaged in boat trips, Jeep Safaris, Mountain biking, Riding a Motorbike and even stayed pretty close to land enjoying some tennis. Everywhere I look I could see that people were having so much fun. Whether it was the young or those who were merely young-at-heart, the place really did have something to offer for everyone.
As for the hotel I stayed in, the Hotel Arena Corralejo, was a vacation in itself. It’s a rather large hotel with approximately 101 rooms. The service, facilities and general feel of the place is nothing but first class. The staff was so friendly and I didn’t have to ask twice for anything I needed. One of my favorite aspects of this place was the food. They had a buffet option that served not just the local cuisine, but international dishes as well. What’s more, they even had a vegetarian selection in case I felt like eating a little healthy. Once I had my fill, I enjoyed some of the hotels finest cocktails as I listened to their in-house bands perform live music. This really set me in the right mood after a day of strenuous activity. There were even some days when I didn’t feel like going out of the hotel. This didn’t mean, though, that I was left doing nothing. Without having to go out, I had a good session of swimming from one of the hotel’s two outdoor pools. After that, I relaxed and treated my skin to a relaxing sauna. I took advantage of my elegantly designed room and had my afternoon nap. When I awoke, I felt rejuvenated and exercised at the private gym. I worked up enough sweat just to sample the heavenly massage they offered right after. At the end of the day, it felt like I had been as active as if I had gone out. It was truly a one of a kind experience I would love to have again.
